Previously, Epic Games’ hot-door shooting game, Fort Night, was linked to Star Wars. In response to the attack, there were reports that the “faceless executives” within Epic Gomes complained to the Wall Street Journal, which, in cooperation with Disney, was frustrated at the speed of decision-making and had slowed down cooperation.

In the event of Fortress Night and Star Wars, Das Vida appeared as a time-bound character and used the voice of the late phonographer, a move that was criticized by some players and industry. Approximately 10 million players allegedly interacted with Das Vida during his deployment. According to anonymous sources, the complex organizational structure of Disney, in particular because of the need for multiple departmental and branch levels of approval, slows the pace of cooperation.
In February 2024, Walter Disney announced an investment of $1.5 billion in the acquisition of part of Epic Gomes ‘ equity and plans for major cooperation with Fort Night. Together, the two sides will build a new “open, lasting social universe” designed to “see, buy and interact” on this platform, from the content, roles and stories of the major brands under the Disney flag, including the heavyweight IPs of Pixar, Star Wars, Manwe and Avatar.

In response to media reports, Tim Sweeney, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Epic Gomes, strongly refuted the report. On social platform X, he pointed to the story “Bull Hit”. “That anonymous quote is pure nonsense”, Sveney wrote, “In projects such as Das Vida, Disney and Epic have been working very efficiently, about 10 times as fast as the average media company in this industry.”
Sweeney also revealed that Epic Gomes had in fact provided a statement to the journalist of the article, “but they chose not to publish”.
