VC giants Insight Partners inform employees and limited partners after data leaks

Insight Partners, a venture capital company, stated that many people, including its limited partners, had been notified that their personal information had been stolen by hackers during the data leak in January.

In a statement later last week, the company stated that it had completed its review in August after the data had been leaked and that it had been described as a “social engineering attack” without further explanation.

According to earlier notifications, stolen data included information on certain Insight Partners ‘ funds, management companies and portfolio companies. According to the company, hackers also use bank and tax information, as well as personal information about their current and former employees and their limited partners, which are the usual private and unnamed investors who help to provide funding for insight into the risk investments.

So far, Insight Partners have kept details of the parcel violations, including how many individuals were stolen, or provided a copy of the notice sent to the affected persons during the TechCrunch inquiry. The company has not yet stated whether it received a demand for ransom from hackers or whether it paid them. (It is not uncommon for companies to face payment requests in exchange for hackers to delete or not publish stolen data.

Kristen Zeck, the spokesperson for Insight Partners, did not reply to the e-mail on violations.

It has over $90 billion in assets under its administration and has invested in some of the largest cybersecurity companies today, including Databricks and Wiz.

In recent years, Insight Partners has joined a few other venture capital companies.

The Silicon Valley Ventures was attacked by extortion software attacks in 2021, when Redwood partners experienced data leaks. Both events allowed hackers to refresh the personal information of limited company partners.
